And here we are...

Well, either they'll get torn apart by hounds or have to figure out how to get by some seriously hypnotic singing birds. What to do, what to do...

It's lucky that Sharon knows how to hag-gle.

Does Sharon's access to Mjollnir cut anyone else out of it? Including Thrud or either of her brothers?

Hi Douglas,

Glad you asked! Could Thrud just call Mjolnir herself? And if she can, why does she tell Sharon to do it?

The answer is: she could. The only thing that cuts off the access of a worthy wielder of the hammer from calling it to them is if it's already in the grip of another wielder. Which is why the giants left it wrapped in the bones of Thor's hand... this prevented it from being called by any of his children.

However, wielding Mjolnir in pitched battle is a dangerous proposition. This is the purpose of Thor's gauntlets, Jarngreipr -- to protect the wielder from being damaged by the power the hammer puts off. So while Thrud might be able to use it for a little while (as she did when she dropped the giant Gangr), a prolonged battle would be too much unless she had the gauntlets, which are currently in the possession of her brothers.

Sharon, however, is a different case. Wielding a hot Mjolnir is like grabbing a thunderbolt, and it's something Sharon is uniquely suited to do. How long could she wield it? In theory, indefinitely, but she's never subjected her body to a constant bombardment of electricity over a long period of time, so I don't think she's too keen to experiment and find out what her limits are.
