Comic 788 -- Lame Duck Ploy

 The battle continues...

Kind of hard to score this fight. Gail's taken more hits, but the hits she's landed on Krylov have done heavier damage. Of course, Krylov has that "Instant Win" button she could press... but does she? Hmm.

Hope you're enjoying this action sequence. Or at least that the action makes sense on the page...

I'm not understanding the "lame duck ploy". I'm inferring from context that it's faking an injury so your opponent makes an attack which would work if you were injured but leaves him/her vulnerable instead. However - is it where she grunts and half-conjures the saber?

@Terranovan,

Yes... that's the part I wasn't sure came through clearly enough.

Two strips back, Gail broke Krylov's collarbone, and concluded that her right arm was probably not usable.

However, Krylov's superhuman toughness allowed her to overcome the pain to some degree. Her "lame duck ploy" was pretending that her right was just hanging limply, so she could spring a surprise attack.

Gail spots it coming, and her counter is successful. If Krylov was a normal human, she'd be floored by the pain right now.

Maybe I should put some more dialogue in to make that clear. >sigh<

Merci,
